Install the beta app
Download the Parallax desktop app from your beta invite, connect your agents to it, and check that it works.
The desktop app is invite-only during the beta. Your invite has the download link.
1. Download and open
Download Parallax-<version>-arm64.dmg from the invite link, open it and drag Parallax to Applications. Open it from Applications, not from the disk image. macOS checks the notarized app once; if it says it cannot check the developer, the download was not complete: download it again.
2. First start
Accept the license. The window says "Connecting…" until its core answers, then shows your booted simulators and emulators. Without the screen helper it says "No screen helper"; the agent's tools still work.
3. Connect your agents
In Terminal, in any folder. With Node installed:
npx -y @parallax-rn/mcp@0.1.0-beta.2 setup claude # Claude Code
npx -y @parallax-rn/mcp@0.1.0-beta.2 setup codex # CodexWithout Node, the app's own copy of the server does it:
ELECTRON_RUN_AS_NODE=1 /Applications/Parallax.app/Contents/MacOS/Parallax /Applications/Parallax.app/Contents/Resources/mcp/bundle/parallax-mcp.js setup claudeEither way, with the app in Applications, setup registers the app's copy of the server (the diff says "Route: the installed Parallax app"), so the agent needs no Node afterwards. The options of setup are on Install in your agent.
4. Check it
In Claude Code run /mcp: parallax is listed as connected. In Codex run codex mcp list: parallax is there. Start a new agent session and ask for status.
5. If Parallax was registered before
If you registered Parallax by hand or from another version, setup says "already present, not added" and changes nothing. To move it to this version, run setup with --update. To start over, run it with --undo first.
6. Updates
The app checks for a new beta at start and every 6 hours, downloads it in the background and installs it when you press Restart.
If something fails
Send the output of setup … --dry-run, of doctor, and of /mcp (Claude Code) or codex mcp list (Codex) through Help, Report a Problem… in the window. It copies a diagnostics text and opens a public issue form; check what you paste before you submit it. See Troubleshooting.
